One explanation is that students with a religious background tend not to be as familiar with scientific theories and concepts, which makes them more vulnerable to the influence of creationists. Another possible factor is that students who have a religious background tend to view evolution as an atheistic concept and therefore less comfortable with it.2. Evolution and ScienceIn recent years, campaigns against evolution in schools have raised concerns in the scientific community. A survey conducted in 2009 revealed that more than 40 percent of Americans believe that biological evolution is a lie, and that a belief in it would conflict with their faith-based beliefs. Researchers in this field employ explanation tools and models that are adapted from evolutionary theorists and reach back to the prehistoric human to discover the origins of culture.This method also acknowledges the differences between biological and cultural characteristics. Cultural traits can be acquired slowly while biological traits are typically acquired simultaneously (in sexual species at fertilization). At the end of World War II, Korea was once more united but this time under the Choson dynasty rule.Today, Korea is a vibrant political and economic power. Despite the current global financial crisis, the economy of Korea has grown steadily in the last decade and is set to maintain its steady growth in the near future.The current administration is faced by a myriad of problems. One of the most significant is the inability to come up with an effective strategy to deal with the economic crisis. The crisis has exposed weaknesses of the country's economy policies, mainly its overreliance on foreign investment and exports that may not be sustainable over the long term.Since the financial crisis has destroyed the confidence of investors, the government needs to reconsider its economic strategy and come up with alternatives to increase domestic demand. To ensure a stable and stable financial environment the government will need to reform its incentive, monitoring and discipline systems. This chapter offers a number of scenarios of how the Korean economy could grow in the post-crisis period.4. Evolution and EducationThe challenge for evolution educators is how to teach evolutionary concepts that are appropriate for various stages of development and ages. However, estimating causal effects in the classroom is challenging given that school curricula are not randomly assigned and evolve over time because of the predetermined dates of gubernatorial election and state board of education appointments. To overcome this limitation, I use a longitudinal data set which lets me control for year and state fixed effects and the individual-level variation in the beliefs of teachers about evolution.Teachers who are more comfortable teaching evolution also have fewer internal barriers. This is consistent with the hypothesis that a faculty with more confidence is less likely to avoid discussing evolution topics in the classroom and may be more likely to employ strategies, such as the reconciliatory approach that has been proven to increase the acceptance of undergraduate students of evolution (Harms and Reiss 2019; Tolman et al., 2020).
